Victor W. Johnson Sr., of Farmingdale, died on March 10, 1999. Born Sept. 21, 1915 in Brooklyn, son of the late Alfred and Anna Anderson and adopted son of Aura Johnson, Victor was a longtime resident of Farmingdale. He worked for over 44 years at the Fairchild Republic Corporation. He was respected and admired for his dedication, his initiative and his skillfulness. His quiet, deliberate manner instilled confidence in all who worked with him. During WWII he served with the NY Army National Guard. Vic was an active member of the P 47s Pilot Association and was instrumental in the creation of the Cradle of Aviation Museum in Uniondale. He acted as a mentor and teacher to technical students at the BOCES Institute.Vic was an active member of St. Kilian's Parish, a member of the Knights of Columbus and was involved in a range of community activities. He was the husband of Helen Wass and the late Ida Zuber Johnson. Father of Peter (Sheilagh) of Toronto, Canada, Vic Jr. (Janet) of Sunrise, FL, Carolyn (David) Coulter of Cheshire, CT, Paul Adela of Farmingdale and Fred (Ann Mary) of Farmingdale. "Poppi" of Elena, Jimmy, Jackie and Paul, Mark and Lenorah, Victoria, David and Elizabeth, Kristyn, Paul and Brendan, Linda, Marion and Veronica; and great-grandchildren Brittany and Anthony, Brianna, Katie, Kelly and Jimbo.
