The Shooting Stars U8 Boys tournament team represented Farmingdale on Sunday, Feb. 7 at the Bellport Soccer Club's winter indoor intramural tournament.

The Shooting Stars played the South Country Tigers first, defeatint them 2-0. They then played a team from East Meadow, winning a very close contest by the score of 1-0. Both teams got outstanding play from their goaltenders. The third game of the day had the Shooting Stars squaring off against the Mastic Soccer Busters, a team they have faced several times previously. Although this game ended in a 0-0 tie, the Shooting Stars came in first place for the playoffs.

The semi-final playoff game was a replay of the third game of the day, pitting the Shooting Stars against the team from Mastic. The Stars were scored upon for the first time of the day, finding themselves down 1-0 with only a few minutes left in the game. They soon righted themselves however, scoring a goal to tie the score and send it into overtime. Not one minute into sudden death overtime, the Shooting Stars won the game, setting up a rematch with the second place East Meadow team for the Championship.

Although the Shooting Stars played well, they were defeated by the East Meadow team 2-0. Coaches Neuburger and Posa said they were "extremely proud" of the way the boys played.
