Celebrating one of the most successful years in its history, the Men's Racing Team of the Greater Long Island Running Club held its annual dinner on Saturday evening, Jan. 31, at Singleton's Restaurant on Hicksville Road in Bethpage.

Pictured here: Coach Melnik (front row, third from right) and the members of the GLIRC Men's Racing team enjoy the annual dinner at Singleton's.

Team Head Coach Ed Melnik served as the master of ceremonies for the evening, at which each team member was "roasted" and received a certificate noting his individual accomplishments. Running Club President Mike Polansky was named as an honorary team member and received a special "roast" of his own.

Several runners from Farmingdale and the Massapequas are key members of the GLIRC Men's Racing team, including Kieran Kelly of Massapequa Park, Mike Mahlan of Massapequa, and Brian McMahon of Farmingdale.

"Some of the most talented athletes on Long Island are part of our team," observed Coach Melnik, "but more to the point, they are some of the hardest working and some of the nicest guys on Long Island as well. We are proud to have such a great group representing our team and the Greater Long Island Running Club.
