A memorial service has been planned for John J. Krumenacker, the former Farmingdale resident and accomplished lacrosse player who died on Dec. 17 at the age of 35.

The late John J. Krumenacker

The celebration of John's life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 13, at a 1 p.m. Mass at St. Kilian's Church on Conklin Street, Farmingdale. A reception will follow the service in the lower level of the church. Those seeking additional information may call Buddy Krumenacker at (516) 249-5349.

Born and raised in Farmingdale, John Krumenacker played both football and lacrosse at Farmingdale High School (FHS), and was a high school All-American lacrosse player. He holds the career record for points scored at FHS. He went on to Johns Hopkins, where he was a four-time All-American, played in four national championship games - winning two of them - and was a member of the 1986 World Lacrosse Championship Team.

Prior to his death, John had resided in Maryland with his wife, Katie Moran and two children - Kyle and Kendall. Those wishing to donate to a trust fund for John and Katie's children may send checks payable to Tydings & Rosenberg LLP, Attorneys at Law, 100 East Pratt Street, Baltimore, MD 21202. (Contributors are asked to note on the check that it is for Kyle and Kendall Krumenacker and to mark the envelope to the attention of Lawrence J. Quinn. Those with questions may call Lawrence at 410-752-9742.)

A memory book is being compiled for Kyle and Kendall. Those with a nice story they would like to share with the children are asked to send two copies of it to: Megan Llewellyn, 1 Calvary Court, Lutherville, MD 21093.

There will also be an annual award given in John's name at Farmingdale High School to a senior who best exemplifies "the consummate team player" in lacrosse.
