When sufficient snow permits, a total of eight Nassau County parks and preserves will open up trails this winter for cross-country skiers who have their own equipment.

The following facilities will provide cross-country ski trails: Bay Park, East Rockaway; Eisenhower Park, East Meadow; Garvies Point Preserve, Glen Cove; Grant Park, Hewlett; Morley Park, Roslyn-North Hills; Muttontown Preserve, Muttontown; North Woodmere Park, North Woodmere, and Tackapausha Preserve, Seaford.

Trails range from a scenic 9/10 mile round trip course for the novice skier at Grant Park, to a four mile marked trail through Muttontown's rolling woodlands for the more expert cross-country skier.

All parks, conditions permitting, will be opened daily from 9 a.m. to dusk. There is no fee for trail usage. For additional information call 572-0200 weekdays during business hours.
