The spirit of the holiday season is alive and well in the greater Farmingdale area, as made apparent by the many acts of generosity by local community members.

The weeks leading up to Christmas and Chanukah have abounded with food and gift drives, Toys for Tots events and warm celebrations. This weekend, in particular, seemed to offer a glimpse of genuine human compassion and kindred spirit. In one example, months of donations from several local individuals and groups culminated in the preparation of food and gift baskets for 134 needy St. Kilian's Church Outreach families. In another - the dedication of the Torah and celebration of Chanukah at the Farmingdale Jewish Center - members of the Jewish community shared solemn words, hugs, bread and song.

These activities have brought much joy to the community, and the same is wished for you and yours this holiday season - and throughout the coming year.
