Once again this year, hundreds of local runners headed into New York City for the New York City Marathon, and also once again this year, they were able to get to the starting line and home from the finish line in luxury buses from Farmingdale.
More than 150 runners from the Plainview-Old Bethpage Road Runners Club competed in this year's Marathon. Most of them traveled to and from the event on one of the buses organized by Bob Cook, proprietor of The Runner's Edge, the Farmingdale-based store that supplies running shoes, gear and clothing for the local running community.
"This was a great way to get to the Marathon," said Road Runners Club Treasurer Michael Kaye of Plainview, "and we are all very thankful to Bob and the rest of the gang at The Runner's Edge for arranging the buses."
