The 9th annual event opened on Thursday, Oct. 8 with a carnival behind the village firehouse and village hall, which continued until Columbus Day, Monday, Oct. 12. Friday featured a fire department barbecue in addition to the carnival. On Saturday, the carnival was complemented by games, a Sons of Italy Las Vegas Tent, a fire department barbecue, as well as live music. Vendors and village merchants' sidewalk sales lined the streets of Main Street on both Saturday and Sunday.
Following the close of both the street market and a magic show on Sunday, a sizeable parade headed down Main Street. Scores of both adults and children cheered on the procession of marching bands and fire trucks from Farmingdale and beyond, as well as local boys scouts, community groups and local dignitaries.
Sunday's fanfare, which also included the carnival and live music, was capped off by a fireworks display.
