(The following letter was forwarded to the Observer for publication).
The Farmingdale Fire Department would like to call attention to October as National Fire Prevention Month. The job of our firefighters is not only protection of life and property, but also to instill in our neighbors a working understanding so that they may work and play safer in our community.
All the members of The Farmingdale Fire Department would like to invite our residents, both young and old, to attend our Open House. It will be held Sunday, Oct. 18, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Fire Department Headquarters located at 361 Main St.
We would like to present to you and your family demonstrations on E.D.I.T.H. (Exit Drills In The Home), proper use of Extinguishers, proper use of Smoke Detectors, LIRR safety and we will explain the W.H.A.L.E. program. Our Rescue Squad will be demonstrating their equipment and distributing Vials of Life. We feel that fire prevention is important to you and your family.
Looking forward to seeing you on Oct. 18.
Scott Lorenzen, 2nd Assistant Chief
