Tracy Weiner, coach of the girls varsity team at Farmingdale High School was recently given the Nassau County Coach of the Year Award. The distinguished honor was bestowed at an annual lacrosse dinner held on June 7 at the Imperial Manor, Bethpage.
Weiner has been head coach since the start of the Varsity Lacrosse Program six years ago at Farmingdale High School. In that time, she and the varsity lacrosse team have attained three conference titles and two Nassau County championship titles.
In addition, graduating FHS senior Christine McPike was awarded 1998 All American Honors in lacrosse. McPike started playing lacrosse in elementary school for the PAL league and has played varsity lacrosse for the past four years at Farmingdale High School.
She is a three time All County player, two time Empire State Lacrosse team member, three-time National School Girls team player, 1997 Honorable Mention All American Lacrosse Player, and recently had the privilege of playing in the prestigious North/South Game held at the National Lacrosse Tournament during the Memorial Day weekend in Maryland.
Christine was also awarded the Coaches Award at Farmingdale High School for outstanding achievement in athletics; as well as a host of others. She will be attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the Fall on a lacrosse scholarship, and will pursue a degree in elementary education.
Special honors were also given to the following members of the FHS Nassau County 1998 Girls Lacrosse Champions. They are:
