The U-13 girls soccer team, the Farmingdale Lightning continues their march through their division. On Sunday, May 31 the Lightning took on Stonybrook in a battle for first place. Early in the first half, Candace Grosser put the Lightning ahead 1-0, with assists from Joanna Venditto and Nicole Layton. The Lightning had many first half chances, but just kept missing. In the second half, Stonybrook got even with the Lightning at 1-1, but not for long. Dayna Moses put the Lightning ahead to stay at 2-1 with assists going to Meaghan Fitzpatrick and Katie Pullen. Continued outstanding play by Fitzpatrick, Christine DeRiso, Grosser, Layton, Melinda Mantooth, Jackie Marcel, Gina Mesina, Megan Miller, Meghan McCoy, Kaitlyn McInnis, Moses, Diane Pastor, Pullen, Lianna Spiciarich and Venditto have the Lightning at 6-0 and in first place in their division. Fitzpatrick and Messina made several key saves to secure the 2-1 Lightning victory. Kim Hillier, Michelle Pares and Stephanie Veveakis did not play.
