Local youth basketball team the Sonics on March 25 defeated the Clippers 25-19 to capture the third grade PAL Western Division Title. In the two playoff games, the Sonics were led by high scoring Jack Reynolds with 25 points and Thomas Romano with 19 points.

During the championship game, tight fourth quarter defense led by Rich and Nick D'Amico, combined with clutch foul shooting by Paul Carvajal, ensured the victory.

Throughout the season, fine performances were given by Keith Kandora, Nick Thompson, Kyle Colquhoun, Michael Cerase and Ryan Wozny. The Sonics finished the season with a record of 8 wins and 2 losses.
