On Saturday morning, March 28, the boys U-11 Travel Soccer Team, the Farmingdale Panthers, mixed it up with a very tough Stony Brook team.

From the opening whistle the Storm from Stony Brook was determined to take to the Panthers. Sharp passing and speed to the ball from the Storm kept Farmingdale off balance the entire first half.

Although outplayed, the Panther defense of Jason Quereau, John Macaluso and John Forry hung tough. Very few shots got through to goalie Nick DeRiso. The first half ended scoreless. After some halftime adjustments, the Panthers were more than ready for the second half. The Panthers started to dominate quickly when Nick DeRiso (1 goal) was sprung free by crisp passes from Nick Switach (1 asst.) and Vito Messina (1 goal, 1 asst.). Forwards Chris Shishko, Ray Perry, Jesse Nofi and Russell Campbell applied pressure most of the second half. Strong midfield play by Kris Chan, Kenny Peterson (1 asst.), Kyle Dowd and Derek Wilson stopped the Stony Brook attack cold. Nick Switach playing stopper turned in a solid performance, playing the entire game. With time running down, Vito Messina iced the game with three minutes left scoring from a beautiful cross field pass from Kenny Petersen. Nick DeRiso and Derek Wilson combined for the shutout. Wilson made a big league save the second half. Christian Toic did not play.
