There will soon be a lawsuit regarding the imposed dress code called uniforms for public school children. The suit implies that freedom of choice is being infringed upon.

Does one think that all the millions of Army, Navy, Marine and Air Force personnel, both men and women feel their freedom of choice is impeded because of a uniform? I think not. For that matter, police and firemen also wear uniforms and enjoy them during work hours.

When I was a child in elementary schools in New York City we had a basic dress code, white shirts and ties and dark pants for boys, and white blouses and dark skirts for the girls. What it did was let us learn. We never coveted any item of clothing that another child wore. We may have admired a beautiful head of hair, attractive eyes, flawless complexion, stature and grace, but we knew those were not material items - they were gifts from God to be admired.

The interviews with New York City children show they seem to like the new uniforms. Of course, this now gives business to the uniform companies, whereas the dress code of days gone by would result in less costly attire.
