Rose DeMarco, longtime resident of Farmingdale, died on March 12, 1998. Former teacher of the Baldwin S.D. Sister-in-law of and sister of Mildred DeMarco and the late Joseph L. DeMarco. Edward W. Mueger died on March 16, 1998 at his home in Florida. He was a resident of S. Farmingdale since 1956 and moved to Florida five years ago. He was a NYC police officer and an insurance investigator after retiring form the NYPD. Edward was a member of the Knights of Columbus St. Thomas of Aquinas Council #11497 in New Port Richey, FL. He is survived by his beloved wife Helen; son Warren; daughter Donna Calir; stepdaughters Susan Kruse and Jayne Cox; 10 grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren. Funeral Mass at St. Thomas of Aquinas Catholic Church. Interment Trinity Memorial Gardens, New Port Richey, in the Garden of the Immaculate Conception. Greatly loved by all who knew him.
John A. Hassel, of Farmingdale, died two days prior to his 101st birthday on March 23. Former custodian of the Farmingdale S.D. Naval veteran of WWII. In the early 1900s he played the piano at the original Farmingdale Movie Theatre as an accompanist to the silent movies being shown. Predeceased by his wife Gertrude. Father of Marion McDonald.
