On Sun. March 15 the u13 girls travel team, Farmingdale Lightning took a giant step forward by winning their first round game against Garden City 3-0.

When the second half started the girls dusted the winter rust off and took care of business. Outstanding defensive play by Kim Hillier, Christine DeRiso, Liana Spiciarich and Stephanie Veveakis shut down the Garden City attack. Strong midfield play led by Nicole Layton, Candace Grosser, Gina Messina, Melinda Mantooth, Michelle Pares and Meghan McCoy kept the opposition off balance the entire game. Meaghan Fitzpatrick and Gina Messina each played a half in goal for the combined shutout. Jackie Marcel, Katie Pullen, Megan Miller, and Kaitlyn McInnis did not play.
