Eighth Graders Win Opener in Winter Lacrosse League

Rob Bonagura scored six goals, Scot Gale had three goals and Mark Sweeney, Terry Warehime and Tim Rogers each scored a goal apiece as Farmingdale`s eighth graders beat West Islip 12-9 in winter lacrosse Sunday at the State University at Farmingdale.

In their opening game in the indoor league, the Dalers fought back from a two-point deficit early on in the first half to tie the score at seven at half time. They then scored the next four goals in a row, while holding their opponents scoreless, to take the lead for good.

Chris Hardgrove and Drew Kane were outstanding in goal, while Chris Auletta, Walter Celenski, Tom Chechilo, Randy Earl, Mike Galgano, Kevin Piechota, John Tortora and Justin Venezia all had strong all-around games.

Next Sunday, the Dalers play Islip at 9 a.m. at the college.
