Warning Signs Erected on Turnpike

In response to a dangerous traffic situation on Hempstead Turnpike in Farmingdale, the New York State Department of Transportation has erected two warning signs in the area.

Previously, there was no warning that the right lane ended, and motorists were forced to suddenly merge left or make a right turn onto the Bethpage Parkway. Nassau County Legislator Salvatore B. Pontillo recently called attention to the danger of this traffic situation, and along with State Senator Kemp Hannon (R-Nassau) and State Assemblyman Steven Labriola, had urged that it be corrected by some warning device.
