The following letter is addressed to all members of the community.
It has been a year since we lost our good friend, Dr. Gary Karp, but not a day goes by that he is not in our thoughts and hearts. He did so much for this community and is greatly missed by the many people whose lives he touched. At this time, his friends from East Memorial would like to honor his memory by purchasing and dedicating two stained glass panels to be installed over the outside lobby doors at his children's school. Each panel is approximately 2 feet x 6 feet and would express Gary's ultimate goal in his life, "Children First". The board of education has also agreed to our request to name the auditorium after him. We are asking our East Memorial families and the Farmingdale community members to help us remember what Gary always stood for, "Children First", by donating to this project. The approximate cost is $5,000 plus installation for both panels. The tentative sketch is shown, however the actual finished design and the number of panels will depend on the monies raised.
Any donation, no matter how small, will be accepted and greatly appreciated. Our hope is to be able to dedicate these panels in the spring and have his family there to see how many lives Gary had touched during his short life.
Please send a check made out to "The Dr. Gary Karp Stained Glass Fund", c/o 24 Henry Street, Farmingdale, NY 11735. Include your name, address and phone number.
Thank you in advance to all who will help make this dream a reality.
