Power's Place Events

Every Friday, in a "living room" environment, single women and men in their 30s, 40s and 50s can meet new friends right after work. Sip herbal tea or flavored coffee, enjoy cheese 'n crackers, scrumptious cakes and pies, and have fun in a comfortable living room environment. 8 p.m. Nov. 28.

Annual Toy Drive for Hospitalized Children

Defensive Driving Course
Presented by Driver Improvement Programs. Motorists who complete the course who are principal drivers must be given a 10 percent discount on both their automobile liability and collision premiums for three full years. The NYS Dept. of Motor Vehicles will reduce up to four points from the motorist's record for any infractions the motorist has been convicted of in the previous 18 months. Fee is $45. Presented by the Farmingdale Chamber of Commerce at noon. Santa Claus will ride down Main St. in a fire truck and will arrive at the Farmingdale Village Green to greet and take pictures with children.

Farmingdale-Bethpage Historical Society
Meeting at 2 p.m. at the Farmingdale Library, Merritts Rd. Topic: slide talk presented by David Morrison, founder and past president of the LIRR Historical Society on Rail Station Eagles. Huge monumental eagles adorned both the Grand Central Depot (1898-1910) and Pennsyvania Station (1910-1963). Mr. Morrison will trace the current locations of the eagles from the razed rail stations and their histories.
